Ad of the week: The Langton Arms
A fundraiser for a RURAL pub for Ukrainian farmers – The Langton Arms is the pub of the week.
Located in Tarrant Monkton, near Blandford Forum, The Langton Arms is a farm pub offering fresh, local produce.
The pub has been run by farmers Barbara and James Cossin for 30 years, with the couple continuing to source many of its meat dishes from their own butcher shop.
Barbara said: “All the beef on the menu comes from our family farm, and our pork and lamb we source from a local farmer.
“We love campaigning for local farmers, growers and food.
“It’s so important, especially with all of our borders open because of Brexit, it’s so important that we support UK farmers.”
As well as a locally sourced menu, the pub also offers a warm and friendly atmosphere and has been described in the past as ‘a very good example of a great British pub’.
Barbara said: “We are a pub for everyone. We have a play park, a lovely beer garden, fantastic walks. We have welcomed all markets.
The Langton Arms recently participated in fundraising efforts to support Ukrainian farmers in the midst of war.
On Saturday June 11, the pub hosted a live musical performance by Dorset Rock Waves, with a ploughman’s dinner offered to guests.
Barbara said: “It was a great event which was supported by all the locals.
“We had Rock Waves play – the lead singer lives in the village.
“They were brilliant, and it was really sweet to have them supporting us.”
Locals hold annual charity fundraisers, and this year’s event raised an incredible £900 to support Ukraine and its farmers.
Barbara said: “Normally we support more local things, but we have thought about everything that is happening in Ukraine.
“It’s quite mind blowing what they’re going through there, with what’s happening for the animals, the farmers and of course the people, but we were really thrilled to have raised that kind of money.
“It just shows what can be done.”
