Billinge’s first Christmas market will be held at Masons Arms

THE very first Christmas market is coming to Billinge this year.

The Festive Market, hosted by resident Stephanie Fry, will be held at The Masons Arms, Carr Mill Road, Billinge, on Sunday, December 5, from noon to 4 p.m.

Stephanie said the idea came to see other neighboring villages hosting similar Christmas markets, as well as those in downtown St Helens, and she thought it seemed right that Billinge had hers.

Stephanie said: “The event is designed to showcase local creators, artists, producers and businesses and support our local hospitality industry after a very difficult 18 months, and a key aspect of the market will be raising funds for three local charities – MIND St Helens, Willowbrook Hospice and the Mayors Charity Supporting Sick Children.

“Everything is being done from scratch and with minimal resources, but the venue The Masons Arms and Cllr Sue Murphy are extremely supportive of this event and are committed to making it a success.”

She says the vision is for the market to grow in the years to come, encompassing more places throughout the village, thus providing more opportunities for people to sell their products, share information and empower people to do their purchases locally and to support their independent and local businesses.

“The Masons Arms is a charming, centuries-old family pub that will be a fabulous place to host the market, and as they have kindly agreed to be the founding venue for this event, it is hoped that more people will come by the day and find out. this hidden gem, ”added Stéphanie.

People are encouraged to walk to the event or use public transportation where possible to help reduce traffic jams.
